There are some places that feel like they hold a kind of quiet magic—and Chittenango Falls State Park is one of them.

Tucked just outside of Syracuse, this location is one of my favorite spots for senior photography in Central New York. Between the winding trails, soft waterfalls, mossy stones, and golden light filtering through the trees, it creates the kind of atmosphere that feels both grounded and dreamlike all at once.

This session was the perfect blend of that natural beauty and a quiet, effortless confidence.

A Soft, Natural Start by the Water

We began down by the creek, where the water moves gently over the rocks and everything feels calm and still. There’s something about being near water that immediately softens a session—it invites you to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and just exist in the moment.

She sat along the stones, surrounded by early fall color and soft light, and everything about it felt organic and unforced. These are always my favorite kinds of moments—the ones that aren’t overly posed, but simply felt.

Movement, Light & the In-Between Moments

As we wandered through the trails, the light shifted constantly—filtering through leaves, catching in her hair, creating that soft glow that makes everything feel a little more alive.

One of the most beautiful things about Chittenango Falls State Park is the texture it offers—stone steps, tree roots, layered greenery, and earthy tones that add depth to every image.

We incorporated different areas of the park to create variety, from soft open paths to more structured, architectural elements like the stone staircases. The result is a gallery that feels cohesive, yet rich with contrast.
